What is Meditation?

Simply put, mediation is a way to relax the body while the mind empties. I like to think of it as an opportunity to focus your mind and attention toward yourself, eliminating outside noise and distractions so that you can reach an emotionally calm, clear, and relaxed state. There are many different techniques and forms of meditation that try to relax the body, clear the mind, and just exist in the moment. Different senses and feelings are involved. To me, any relaxation that makes you feel good afterwards is worth it, but how do we find these opportunities to meditate?

When Should I Meditate?
Whenever you want! Whenever you can! Life is busy, so it may seem hard to find a specific time or moment in the day to spend on something that requires you to be still and essentially put a hold on the hustle and bustle of day to day life. However part of the appeal of meditation is it can truly be done anywhere, as long as you are not in a dangerous spot like the middle of a street. Some like to sit in a certain spot in their home or office on break, others like to spend time in nature. It is beneficial to try to meditate around the same time of day if you can. You can think of this as a little pick-me-up meditation in a given moment if you need a moment to yourself.
